Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be rulers who tell lies and oppress; whoever believes their lies and assists them in their oppression does not belong to me, and I do not belong to him, and he will not come to the Hawd (Basin). But whoever does not believe their lies and does not assist them in their oppression belongs to me, and I belong to him, and he will come to the Hawd."
Authentic hadith - Narrated by Ahmad

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that after his death, there will be rulers who tell lies in their speech, saying what they do not do, and they will oppress in their ruling. Whoever joins them, believes their lies, or helps them by acting wrongfully or by speech, such as giving them fatwas to please them or seeking what they offer, I dissociate myself from him; he does not belong to me, and I do not belong to him, and he will not come to Hawd Al-Kawthar on the Day of Judgment. However, anyone who does not join them, does not believe their lies, and does not help them in their oppression belongs to me, and I belong to him, and he will come to the Hawd on the Day of Judgment.

Benefits from the Hadith

  1. If one enters upon rulers with guidance, counsel, and reducing evil, then this is what is required. However, if one enters to assist them in their oppression and believes their lies, this is blameworthy.
  2. Clarifying the warning for those who assist a ruler in his oppression.
  3. This warning in the Hadīth indicates the prohibition of this action and that it is one of the major sins.
  4. Encouraging cooperation in goodness and righteousness and refraining from cooperation in sin and transgression.
  5. Affirming of the Hawd for our Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and that his Ummah will come to it.
